On Tuesday we ushered in October and if there were any doubts that we are in the middle of Fall athletics, those were removed with the onset of lower temps, falling leaves, and early sunsets. Those were not the only reminders, however. Girls Varsity Golf, currently ranked the #2 team in Division 4 by the Michigan Interscholastic Golf Association, competed at The Detroit Golf Club in the CHSL Championships. The Gryphons cruised to a 10-stroke victory led by two seniors finishing in the top ten. Hannah L ‘24 finished 10th, earning First Team All-Conference honors. Mia M ‘24 led the field with career best 63, 6 strokes under par. Mia’s incredible round included 3 eagles. The varsity golf team will continue to fine tune their play ahead of MHSAA Regionals on Tuesday, October 8. Read more on this season’s golf team.

Speaking of ushering in Fall with victory, on Tuesday, the boys cross country team finished first in this season’s third CHSL Jamboree, fueled by top-10 finishes from Henry B ‘26, Mason S ‘25, and Naveen K ‘27. The girls team finished in third place behind Royal Oak Shrine and Everest Collegiate. Ninth-grader Addison G led the entire field, finishing first in the race. Nina M ‘27 also secured a top-10 finish for the Gryphons.

Middle School Shout Out

Our middle school teams are in full swing! A special shout out to our cross country team which competed this past Saturday at the Marauder Invitations. Joey B ‘29 led the Gryphons with a top-5 finish! This past Tuesday, our field hockey team defeated Emerson 4-0 and on Wednesday Greenhills played host to University Liggett in the sports of Field Hockey, Soccer, Tennis and Volleyball.

Looking Forward

Next week, Greenhills hosts some key varsity matchups, including the start of MHSAA playoffs. We are excited to welcome other school communities to our campus for postseason play and look forward to seeing our own community out and supporting the Gryphons.

Tuesday, October 8

4pm - Varsity Field Hockey hosts Mercy at Towsley Field

6pm - Varsity Swim and Dive hosts a CHSL Tri-Meet at Whitmore Lake High School

Also on Tuesday, Varsity Volleyball competes in the CHSL tournament semifinals at Everest Collegiate and, as mentioned above, Girls Golf competes at MHSAA Regionals, hoping to earn an entry into this year’s state tournament.

Thursday, October 10

8am - Varsity Tennis hosts the MHSAA Regional Championship. Matches will be played all day on the Greenhills Tennis Courts.

4pm - Varsity Soccer kicks off the MHSAA District tournament, hosting Dearborn Heights Star International Academy at Towsley Field.
