With so many big events this weekend, be sure you are following Greenhills Athletics on Instagram for live updates  @wearegryphons.

It doesn’t get much more exciting for Greenhills Varsity Soccer. After a pair of 8-0 wins in the MHSAA District Quarterfinals and Semifinals, it is on to the district championship. Up-the-road-rival Father Gabriel Richard will be the opponent at 4pm Friday at Towsley Field. The Gryphons and Irish are no strangers, having played each other nine times in the past four years. This year, the Gryphons tied FGR 0-0 and, in their second game, scored two late goals to win 2-0. Everything is on the line in this one… bragging rights, a district championship, and a trip to regionals. 116 teams started in the Division 3 MHSAA boys soccer tournament and after Friday, only sixteen will remain. Come out and cheer on the Gryphons in the final varsity game at Towsley Field of 2024.

Cross Country Competes for CHSL Titles

On Friday, Cross Country travels to Willow Metropark in New Boston for the CHSL championships. ‘Hills will honor their seniors at the event in addition to aiming to bring home the season’s second conference championship. Both the boys and girls teams will have high aspirations, each placing in the top three team scores in the most recent CHSL Jamboree. Wish our runners good luck!

Tennis and Golf Eye State Championships

Tennis is no stranger to the final weekend of the MHSAA State Tournament. This year, after opting to compete up in division 3, they face stiff competition. Rivals Cranbrook-Kingswood and Detroit Country Day headline, with Greenhills, a state tournament loaded with quality competition. Finals will be at Cranbrook-Kingswood on Friday and Saturday.

Golf heads to Michigan State University for this year’s State Finals. Like Tennis, golf figures to be a major contender for the team title, led by seniors Hannah L and Mia M. You can watch more on Mia’s attempt to win her fourth individual state title here.
