The Greenhills girls swim team outpaced their experience this year, coming through with strong showing all season despite not having a single senior on the team. The culmination of those efforts included a record showing at this year's MHSAA Division 2 State Championships, held at Oakland University. The team qualified for the state finals in five events: 200 Medley Relay, 50 Freestyle, 100 Freestyle, 100 Backstroke, 400 Freestyle Relay, and diving.
The 200 Medley Relay team of Viv Simon, Sadie Skiles, Payton Mathis, and Ryen Mahoney was one of two top-25 finishes in the state, taking 21st place and the second fasted time in school history.
The 400 Freestyle Relay of Kenzie Williams, Sophia Hazzi, Sadie Skiles, and Ryen Mahoney also earned a top-25 finish, placing 23rd overall, good for the 3rd fastest time in school history.
The highlight of the weekend came on the diving board where sophomore Libby Schuster advanced to Saturday's championship round. Libby's diving score of 295.45 was good for 15th overall.
With all state-qualifiers returning next year, Coach Ethan Drouillard is excited to build on this year's success, saying “I'm so proud of everything we were able to accomplish this season, and I can't wait to see what the future holds."
