Returning from a winter break it seemed the boys varsity swim team hadn't missed a beat in their first meet of 2025. The Gryphons defeated Divine Child 139-15 in Wednesday's dual meet, moving their dual meet record to 2-0. You can watch Wednesday's meet here. Prior to the winter break, Greenhills defeated Ypsilanti Lincoln 123-57. The pair of dual meet wins, in addition to a second place finish at the Fenton Relays, has set up the team for what promises to be a strong 2024-25 season.
“As a whole, the team is miles better than they were at this time last year,” said head coach Katie Capelli. “It's super exciting to see how much everyone has improved from last year's conference championships, so we're very excited for the rest of the season.”
This season has already featured new school records with more expected to come. Sophomore Christopher Gregg has broken two school records: the 200 Free Style (1:48.20) and the 100 Back (55.93). Gregg has already accumulated four state cut times, adding on the 200 individual medly and the 100 Fly. Additionally, the team's 200 medly relay and 400 free relay have already qualified for the MHSAA state meet.
The swim team will look to keep its perfect dual meet record alive next Tuesday at Pinckney.
