This winter, Greenhills partnered with Cranbrook Kingswood to form a co-operative team in the sport of boys skiing. While the Greenhills contingent is small - currently at 2 - success has come with it! Junior John Sadrack and sophomore Ben Bernstein competed in the CHSL Championships this past Monday, both finishing in the top 20. Sadrack medaled in both Slalom and GS (Giant Slalom), an excellent showing ahead of MHSAA regionals. Next week's MHSAA regionals will take place at Alpine Valley, where athletes will have a chance to qualify for the MHSAA state meet at Boyne Highlands.
The co-operative agreement with Cranbrook lasts two seasons, giving Greenhills a chance to gauge interest and determine if there would be support for the growth of the sport on a long-term basis.
Girls Basketball Wins Overtime Thriller to Close Out Spirit Week
Once again, the girls varsity basketball team relied on a fourth quarter comeback to force OT. And, once again, the Gryphons came out on top with an exciting win, this time in front of a packed student section in West Gym. View highlights of the game here. Sophomore Cate Alumkal's near-triple-double (15 points, 14 rebounds, 8 assists) led the Gryphons, supported by 16 points from freshman Quinn Maldonado, and 9 points and 9 rebounds from junior Alexi Magdich.
The Gryphons find themselves in a tight race for the final CHSL playoff spot, currently 0.5 games ahead of Cranbrook. A win on Friday, against rival University Liggett would secure a CHSL playoff berth for the first time since Greenhills joined the conference.
