Historic Volleyball and Field Hockey Wins Lead Greenhills Into October
October means post-season play and several Greenhills teams are having historic years. This past week was no exception. Last Friday was the first of two Field Hockey / Volleyball sweeps… Field Hockey took care of Canton 6-0 on senior night followed by Volleyball’s 3-0 win over Ypsilanti Community in front of a packed West Gym crowd. However, those wins were just the appetizer. The main course came this past Tuesday: Field Hockey won their CHSL semifinal 6-0 over Regina. Anna Malloure and Kate Miller each scored two goals and Emi Song and Lauren Ye held down the midfield and defense. The team moves on to the CHSL Championship this Saturday, 4:30pm, at The Hawk in Farmington Hills. A win on Saturday would be the first field hockey conference championship in school history. In the night cap, Volleyball defeated two-time defending state champion Everest Collegiate, handing them their first conference loss in years. Hannah Kaplan and Lexi Harper set the tone with big moments in the first set, leading to a total team effort to win 3-0. The sweep gives volleyball a chance to secure a regular season title when they play Cardinal Mooney on the road Thursday.
