Cross-Country Post-Season Begins While Soccer and Field Hockey Advance in MHSAA Playoffs

Tomorrow, Friday, Cross-Country travels to Willow Metropark for the CHSL championship meet. Greenhills Gryphons runners have been raking in the personal records as of late, especially this past weekend at Hudson Mills Metropark. The annual race, which serves as the program’s senior day, is the perfect combination of fall weather and fast times. In total, eight varsity runners set personal records at Hudson Mills, in addition to ten junior varsity runners who set their own records. Grit and determination will be needed tomorrow. While Greenhills stands to compete well for a conference championship on both the boys and girls sides, competition will be strong. Read more about the season here.

Varsity Soccer Advances to District Championship

On Tuesday, MHSAA soccer playoffs began at Towsley Field with varsity soccer hosting Dearborn Heights Star International Academy in a district semifinal matchup. Greenhills’ performance was consistent and dominant, leading 4-0 at halftime and eventually winning 8-0. Soccer advances to Thursday’s district championship, hosted by opponent Father Gabriel Richard. Kick-off is set for 4pm. The winner of the district will advance to regionals to play the winner of Pontiac Notre Dame Prep and Detroit Country Day, next Tuesday 10/21 at Detroit Country Day. Read more about the season here.

Field Hockey Advances to Regional Semi-Finals

It is the first year that Field Hockey is an officially sanctioned MHSAA sport, which means yesterday’s first round playoff victory was a historic one! The varsity squad defeated Canton 2-0 in a complete game. Karen Yehliu and Kate Miller scored for the Gryphons, punctuating the win. Greenhills now advances to face regional host Ann Arbor Pioneer in the round of 16. The Regional Semifinal will be played Friday at 6pm at Pioneer High School. Read more about the season here.

On the Horizon…

Varsity swim and dive continues to have a historic season of their own. With personal bests and school records an everyday occurrence, sights are set high for the Gryphons as they approach the final leg of the season. After a dominant win this week over Pinckney, Greenhills is preparing for this weekend’s MISCA meet. Expect to hear more about swimming in next week’s update!

Varsity volleyball, fresh off their CHSL Championship season, now turns their attention to preparing for the MHSAA tournament. Tonight, Thursday, they welcome rival Cranbrook to Greenhills. The Gryphons will continue to challenge themselves next Wednesday, on senior night, against Jackson Lumen Christi. Read more about the season here.

Varsity tennis continues its preparations for the MHSAA State Championships. Seedings are set and the competition will be fierce between the top teams in the state. Greenhills has several top-ranked flights and promises to be a major factor in next week’s tournament. Expect to hear more about tennis in next week’s update!

Varsity golf finished out a strong season at last week’s MHSAA Regional tournament. Greenhills finished 8th overall as a team and senior Saaya Doshi finished 10th individually. Congrats to the team! Read more about the season here.
